Safety

Safe Projects Begin With Good Planning

At TMK Engineering, we believe the safest projects are the projects that are planned properly.

Every successful installation begins long before tools arrive on site.

It begins with understanding the scope, identifying hazards, developing practical work methods and ensuring everyone involved understands how the work will be completed safely.

Safety isn't treated as a document that's signed on the morning of the job.

It's integrated into every stage of project planning, fabrication, installation and commissioning.

Our objective is simple:

Deliver every project safely, efficiently and to the highest standard of workmanship.

Planning Before Production Stops

Industrial facilities operate around the clock.

Unplanned downtime costs money.

Poor planning creates unnecessary risk.

By understanding the plant before work begins, we're able to develop practical work methods that reduce disruption while maintaining safe working conditions.

Before work begins we work closely with our clients to understand:

Production requirements
Plant operating conditions
Isolation requirements
Access limitations
Shutdown windows
Critical equipment
Live services
Hazardous areas
Environmental considerations

Risk Assessment & Work Planning

Every project begins with a structured planning process.

No work begins until hazards have been identified, controls are implemented and everyone understands the task.

Depending on the scope of work, this may include:

Site inspections
SWMS development
Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
Pre-start meetings
Toolbox meetings
Lift planning
Confined Space planning
Hot Work planning
Temporary works planning
Environmental controls

Working Safely in Live Industrial Facilities

TMK Engineering has extensive experience working within operating industrial plants where production continues alongside maintenance and project activities.

Our team works closely with plant operators, engineers and permit issuers to ensure work is coordinated safely and with minimal impact on production.

We understand the additional planning required when working around:

Live process equipment
Chemical processing facilities
Operating production lines
High-pressure systems
Hazardous chemicals
Mobile plant
Confined spaces
Elevated work areas
Heavy lifting operations

Permit to Work Systems

We understand that permit systems are critical for managing risk within industrial facilities.

Permit conditions are reviewed before work begins and remain an active part of the job until final handover.

Our personnel are experienced working under client permit systems including:

Hot Work Permits
Confined Space Entry Permits
Working at Heights Permits
Excavation Permits
Isolation Permits
High Risk Work Permits

Isolation & Lock Out / Tag Out

Working on plant equipment begins with effective isolation.

Before commencing any work requiring isolation, TMK Engineering verifies that equipment has been safely isolated in accordance with the client's procedures.

For process pipework and equipment containing hazardous substances, work does not proceed until the client confirms systems have been isolated, depressurised and made safe for maintenance.

Nothing is assumed.

Verification always comes before work.

Where required, our personnel participate in:

Isolation verification
Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO)
Lock box systems
Zero energy verification
Equipment testing
Isolation sign-off

Quality Workmanship Starts With Quality Systems

Safety and quality go hand in hand.

Poor workmanship creates future maintenance problems, equipment failures and unnecessary risk.

That's why quality is built into every stage of our work.

Our goal isn't simply to complete the job.

Our goal is to complete it correctly the first time.

We focus on:

Accurate measurements
Correct material selection
Qualified welding procedures
Dimensional accuracy
Clean fabrication
Installation quality
Pressure testing
Final inspection
Client verification

Protecting People, Plant & Production

Every decision we make considers three things:

People

Protecting our employees, client personnel and everyone working within the facility.

Plant

Protecting existing equipment, infrastructure and production assets.

Production

Planning work that minimises disruption while maintaining operational requirements wherever possible.

Balancing these three priorities allows projects to be completed safely without compromising quality or productivity.

Environmental Responsibility

Industrial construction carries a responsibility to protect the surrounding environment.

TMK Engineering works with clients to ensure waste materials are managed responsibly and environmental controls are maintained throughout every project.

Maintaining a clean worksite is part of delivering a professional project.

This includes:

Waste segregation
Responsible disposal
Spill prevention
Housekeeping
Dust control
Environmental permit compliance
Protection of drains and waterways
Responsible handling of hazardous materials

Continuous Improvement

Every project provides an opportunity to improve.

We encourage feedback from our clients and regularly review our systems to identify opportunities for safer, more efficient ways of working.

By continually improving our planning, communication and work practices, we're able to deliver increasingly better outcomes for our clients.

Safety Through Communication

Many incidents occur because people assume rather than communicate.

At TMK Engineering, communication is considered one of our most important safety controls.

Clear communication ensures everyone understands the scope of work, project progress and any changes that may affect safety or production.

Throughout every project we maintain regular communication with:

Project Engineers
Maintenance Managers
Permit Issuers
Production Supervisors
Plant Operators
Other Contractors
Safety Personnel

Our Commitment

At TMK Engineering, safety isn't about paperwork.

It's about protecting people while delivering quality workmanship.

Every project is approached with careful planning, practical risk management and a commitment to doing the job properly.

When clients engage TMK Engineering, they're partnering with a contractor who understands that successful industrial projects are built on three foundations:

Planning. Communication. Quality.

Those principles guide every project we undertake.
